Windows 10 Release Date Announced
Microsoft has given Windows 10 a release date of 29 July 2015. With this date just around the corner, here are a few things you should know.
The latest version of Windows see’s the re-introduction of the start menu which has incorporated the traditional start menu with the windows 8 menu. They have also introduced their own version of Siri, called Cortana. She is a semi-nude blue lady who sounds as though she is from Mass Effect – which is very cool!
The Windows app’s no longer launch in to that terrible full screen mode but rather in to a window making it much easier to multi-task than it was in Windows 8/8.1.
The action centre no longer gives you annoying little notifications that have no impact on your life whatsoever, but rather now see their own “mini start menu” above the system tray – much nicer!
Windows have also killed off Internet Explorer, the world’s best browser for finding a browser, and replaced it with Project Spartan. This new browser has some very nice features and also gets rid of the memory intensive background apps like those of Chrome and Firefox, and even gives you neat little thumbnails when mousing over your different tabs.
Windows 10 also introduces the multi-desktop feature that Linux users are familiar with, allowing the user to arrange their desktops as they like them and move between them by pressing ‘Windows + Ctrl + left/right arrow’. You can still switch between apps with ‘Alt + Tab’.
There is also the option to switch between the desktop mode and touch-screen mode, allowing those that like the Windows 8 start menu to keep it.
